Word of the Day

"chert:" waste that is removed from mines.  Think piles of rock dragged out of a hole and heaped in far-away fields.

Kinda reminds you of the revision process, right?  Digging through that first draft, getting rid of piles of rock you don't need, in order to find the gems.

Chert. It has to be there, and you have to get rid of it.

chert is hard to find but I know its there. Its a matter of what some see as chert is what others might see as diamonds? I dont make sense do i?

Ha! You make perfect sense, Shelli! I think that's what writers hate about the revision process - finding the chert. Sure would be easier if Word had something like a Chert Alert, wouldn't it? :-)

That is a great word! My fingers are still crossed that you'll make it to SCWBI in LA!
